This day started out fairly crappy.
But I quickly got into my groove.
Cuz I can't hold back the Joy
Have you ever put a mixture of clown makeup and baby powder on fake saddle shoes that got scuffed up or bled on after you spent 3 days painting them?
Have you ever smelled a small dressing room that smells like....
Seriously.
Have you ever sat in a school theatre while K-4 students watch a musical and LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH at Live Theatre???? It is the coolest thing ever. They buy into every moment. They talk to the characters.....
I sat in the back of the house and observed.
I saw a kid get a nose bleed. Spontaneously. (I saw it handled efficiently. )
I saw our Athletic Director riveted to his seat and laughing and clapping.
I saw D-Gang grin at me across a dark theatre. (I looooove that.)

death....
hairspray......

Qdoba.....

Seriously....this young audience ate up every single moment with a spoon.

I saw my favorite actor work every part of her character.
And she doesn't have a single line or solo in this show.
sigh
Have you ever loved what you do and the people you do it with and for?????
Have you ever realized that you get to get up in 5 hours and do it all over again????
Have you ever wondered if one of those kids in the dark - one of those kids who was laughing and clapping and nose-bleeding......

I have done all these things! And that is a super shot of Woodstock!
ReplyDeleteFrom My Mother:
ReplyDeleteFor a Mom who spends most of her time being a Mom, I Love your reflections on being in the theatre with children! It is from the heart. They know it, I know it, and I hope you do too. I remember once a long time ago, when you said to me, "I miss the smell of being in the theatre".
Love you
