Systems of Thinking - Taxonomy for the 21st Century

Don't worry.

I won't inundate you with the thesis that I am working on for my New Media Literacies course.


Suffice it to say that if you are reading this blog you are already part of the Participatory Culture that is our current reality.   I will simply state that Media Literacy has certain pedagogical implications and I certainly am excited about addressing them.

Yeah, so OBVIOUSLY I am back in school.

Big Funny Kid starts back tomorrow.  

As such, he got to be a guest in my class this morning.  Cuz I have the shiny object that we are discussing - a teenager!  The rest of my classmates have no kids, small kids or grown up kids.  But *I* have the coveted teenaged kid.  So he laid down some Truth in my 506 class.  I was proud of him for being willing to share in the discussion.

As far as I am concerned, no matter what your age or your interest is in life - we ALL have something to learn from one another.

I owe the Recently Graduated Theatre Arts Class a big apology because I was supposed to have pizza and hugs with them tonight and I was completely immersed in my school work that I couldn't make it.


Shiny Happy Glitter Boy sent me a picture of the pizza I was missing out on.

Damn.


I missed out on some good food with some GREAT people.  I hope I get to see them before they all scatter back to their various colleges.  I really love these kids.


So, yeah.  It is back to academic Game On here at Chez Loco.  I am surrounded by paper and computers.  BFK has GOT to realize that schoolwork is now more important than his film projects (which by the way, are very impressive) and D-Gang and I have to Beowulf that Musical.

Thank goodness she is the one carrying the sword into this particular battle.  I am just backup, support and a sounding board for her thoughts.



Oh - and SOMEHOW I gotta make a kid's hair look like this:

 


And I am NOT playing the Wig Card.  I already played that one with Seussical. 


Gonna have to keep my Systems of Thinking sharp.

     i.  reason effectively but embrace the non familiar
     ii.  be able to analyze a variety of outcomes
     iii.  reconcile information and conflicts and accurately draw a  reasonable conclusion
     iv.  sample and remix content through appropriation
     v.  challenge everything
