Guilty

ask My Mother
she will attest.

So today My Wife and Cathy Rigby and I had our monthly lunch planned.  And last time we met for lunch one or several of us talked about "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".  That book held me hostage several years ago.

So we decided to go see it today.  At lunch.  On a school day.

This was a very bold move.

My Wife and I walked into the theatre and there was Cathy Rigby - waving her box of Raisinettes at us.  I loaded up on buttered popcorn and glanced around the Mega Theatre Plex.  "We are just down the hall and to the right, " chirped Cathy.  "I already scoped it out."

We settled into our seats and *that* is when I overheard My Wife confirming, "Now, you did read the book, right?"

CR said no.
I said "Any chance you saw the Swedish version of the film."
CR said no again.

Oh dear.

Cuz here is the dealio, folks.  Cathy Rigby is Ever So.  Ever So nice.  Ever So polite.  Ever So endearing.  Ever So innocent (well.......)  and this tale that is about to unfold before her eyes is a bit....raw.  And that is giving me a worry.

I whispered to her, "You can shut your eyes during the scary parts."

And yes - she did bolt out of the theatre at one point in search of "water".

And yes - I guess I felt guilty.  Not totally because of her experience.  She is artistically inclined enough to have really appreciated the story and the acting and the cinematography.

No.....I ended up feeling guilty because here it was at Noon on a School Day and I was at a Movie Theatre!

Holy Crap!
That is like worse than getting my nails done or a haircut or something.

Cathy Rigby hung in there.  And when the film was over, I was really hoping for some talk time.  But we all looked at our phone clocks and panicked.

"I gotta go get my car at the shop!"
"I gotta go get my kid!"
"I gotta get to rehearsal!"

"Love you!  Thanks!"  we all shouted.

And we scattered.

I can't wait for next month.  Most likely we will go to lunch.  But maybe.....just maybe....we will do something daring that will make us feel guilty.

I vote for Vegas.
