I rather like Costume Rooms.
Mine is modest. But if you were to ask me if I have something for a pimp, a pirate, a fairy, a steampunk, an ostrich, several version of fairies or anything with glitter, I would simply roll my eyes and say...... "Of course.......DUH!"
Anyway...... I went on another costume hunt with D-Gang today and we ended up in the Costume Room at Plywood Whisperer's school. And let me tell you that this space is LOVELY! Soooooo well-organized and well.......Organized.
We pulled a few pieces and D-Gang kept muttering "That is my coffee pot." "That was from a show I did at such-and-such school." She was rather nostalgic.
I was enjoying the space and trying not to get distracted.
Suddenly she said "Did you look at that white dress?"
Uh - no. I didn't. It wasn't on my radar. We don't need a white dress.
"That was my prom dress in High School", she offered.
OH, REALLY????????
So I checked it out. It was hideous. And yet hauntingly familiar.
I held the dress in my hand and she said "I had to have a high neck."
I said "Was this a Gunny Sax dress from the 80"s?" D-Gang wasn't sure......
Baa Haa Haa. It occurred to me that I had the same dress. And I used a seam ripper to take the high neck off.
My Mother does not seem amused.
My Favorite Sister is *still* looking for Santa Claus.
I like costumes. They smell good. They contain a history. They get re-purposed. They inspire.

I married Glen in a Gunny Sax dress not unlike that one at all. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI remember the pictures. And yes. Same dress.
DeleteHEE HEE you are hideous too! And my girls consider you the fashionable side of this Dgang unit.
ReplyDeleteI only look hideous because of my hair and makeup. I was 15 and My Mother was still putting her foot down. Thank goodness she gave up on that.
DeleteI love costumes! <3
ReplyDeleteAnd I love costuming. Come back fatted calf!
ReplyDeleteeventually! it's only a matter of time!
